This application takes the concept of a task scheduler and the features of the Pocket PC to create an application that works the way you want. Task schedulers allow you to do one thing, run an application at a certain time. PowerStart is based on commands instead. While running a certain task at a certain time is one feature, you have many other commands at your disposal. With PowerStart, you can:

Launch a program
Delete/Clean files from a directory
Display a message
Play a sound
Close any running programs on the device

By using these commands and the different ways of scheduling, you can create different command combinations. I encourage you to take a look at the Tips section to see what types of commands you can create. You'll be astonished at what this program can do.

See Also
Getting Started
Tips

Getting Started

This section will take you on a quick tutorial and show you how to create a simple scheduled command with PowerStart.

For this tutorial, you will be creating a command that plays a sound each time you turn on your Pocket PC. Just as your desktop machine plays a sound, now you have the power to do the same.

If PowerStart isn't running, tap on the Start Menu and select Programs. Look for the PowerStart icon and tap it. If you are running PowerStart for the first time, a brief message will be displayed. This will only occur once unless you reinstall the program. PowerStart runs in the background but its main window can be accessed easily either by tapping on the PowerStart icon a second time or going to the Today screen and tapping the PowerStart icon located at the bottom right corner of your screen. Tap that icon and select New Command.

PowerStart uses a wizard based interface to schedule commands. For more detailed information about each step, view the Adding Commands help topic. Select the Play a sound options and tap on the Next button. Select a sound file from the list that is displayed and change the number of times you want it to repeat. You may test the sound by clicking the Test button. Tap Next to continue.

Now you need to schedule when you want the sound to play. There are several options available. For this tutorial, select the After device power on option. Tap on Next to continue. Each command has an associated name so you know what it does. Give the command a name like Startup Sound and tap on Next to continue.

Congratulations. You have just added a new command. The last screen displays a summary of what the command will do and when it is run. If you are satisfied tap on the Finish button. If you want to make changes, tap on the Back button to navigate backwards within the wizard.

To see the command in action, simply turn your Pocket PC off and then back on. After a few moments, your command will run and you will hear the sound play.

See Also
Getting Started

Adding Commands

To add a new command, tap on the tray icon and select New Command.
